Raised scars? We flatten them.
Keloids and hypertrophic scars are stubborn — but treatable. Our proven multi-modal protocol (steroid injections, silicone, laser, cryotherapy) progressively flattens, softens and fades even decade-old keloids.
Not all scars are the same.
A keloid extends beyond the original wound boundary, feels firm and can be itchy or painful. A hypertrophic scar stays within the wound but is raised. Both respond to therapy — just with slightly different protocols.
Common trigger sites: ear piercings, chickenpox scars, surgical incisions, acne scars (back, chest), trauma scars. Genetics plays a big role, so relatives often share the tendency.
Treatment is never one-session — keloids need a layered, sustained approach. At Skin Shine, we combine intralesional steroid injections (the gold standard), silicone sheeting/gel, fractional laser, cryotherapy and — for resistant cases — surgical excision with adjuvant radiation.
Dr. Anitha builds a long-term plan that prevents recurrence — critical for keloid patients, because "cutting it out" without prevention leads to an even bigger keloid.
All raised & stubborn scars.
- Ear piercing keloids
- Acne-related keloids (back, chest, jawline)
- Chickenpox scars
- Surgical scars (C-section, appendectomy)
- BCG vaccination scars
- Burn scars
- Trauma scars
- Hypertrophic scars after procedures
Multi-layered therapy.
Evaluation
Measure, photograph, grade scar type and plan sessions.
Intralesional Steroid Injections
Triamcinolone directly into the scar — the single most effective therapy. Repeated monthly.
Silicone Gel / Sheeting
Daily home use reduces collagen activity between sessions.
Fractional Laser
Softens, remodels and reduces pigmentation over several sessions.
Cryotherapy
Freezing destroys scar cells — particularly useful for small keloids.
Adjuvant Surgery (Last Resort)
Only for very large/pedunculated keloids — combined with post-op radiation to prevent recurrence.
Proven, multi-modal results.
Gold-Standard Protocol
Evidence-based therapy used in modern dermatology hospitals worldwide.
Long-Term Prevention
Post-treatment maintenance plan prevents recurrence.
Patience + Commitment
Realistic expectations + consistent follow-up = real improvement.
Common questions, clear answers.
Can keloids be completely removed?
Complete removal is rarely permanent without prevention. But 70–90% flattening and significant colour fade is realistic for most keloids.
Is the injection painful?
A quick sting. We can pre-cool the area and use tiny needles for minimal discomfort.
How many sessions?
Typically 4–8 monthly injections. Larger keloids may need more.
If I remove a keloid, will it come back?
Without prevention — yes, often bigger. That's why we always combine surgery (when needed) with steroid injections and/or radiation.
