Overview

Pigmentation is a symptom.

Your dark spots, melasma patches and uneven tone are usually the visible tip of an iceberg — sun damage, hormones, inflammation or skin barrier stress.

A lasting solution needs more than a "brightening cream." It needs proper diagnosis (is it epidermal, dermal or mixed?), followed by a layered protocol — and critically, protection from future triggers.

We use a combination of medical lightening therapy, dermatologist-grade peels, Q-switched ND:YAG toning and (for resistant melasma) Cosmelan/Dermamelan protocols. Every step is gentle, progressive and safe for Indian skin.

The long-term plan always includes SPF discipline, antioxidant homecare and trigger-avoidance counselling — because untreated triggers bring pigmentation right back.

We Treat

Pigmentation in every form.

  • Melasma (pregnancy / hormonal mask)
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Sun spots & freckles
  • Dark underarms, neck & inner thighs
  • Periorbital dark circles (pigmentation type)
  • Lichen planus pigmentosus
  • Post-acne dark marks
  • Uneven facial tone & dullness
Your Protocol

Treatments we may layer for you.

  1. Diagnosis & Skin Mapping

Wood's lamp examination to identify pigment depth, photo documentation to track progress, and trigger workup (hormones, medications, product history).

  2. Medical Lightening Therapy

Prescription-grade ingredients (hydroquinone, kojic, azelaic, tranexamic, cysteamine) calibrated to your skin type and concern.

  3. Clinical Peels

Glycolic, mandelic, lactic and specialised melasma peels — gradual, gentle lightening with zero downtime.

  4. Q-Switched ND:YAG Toning

Laser toning breaks down pigment particles safely for Indian skin — 6–10 sessions typically deliver even luminosity.

  5. Cosmelan / Dermamelan (Advanced)

For stubborn, resistant melasma — an intensive depigmentation mask protocol with guided homecare.

  6. Long-Term Maintenance

Daily SPF 50+, antioxidant serums, pigmentation-safe actives and periodic boosters — the only way to keep it lasting.

FAQ

Pigmentation questions, answered.

Is melasma permanent?

Melasma is chronic but highly controllable. With the right protocol and strict sun protection, most patients achieve 70–90% fading and can maintain clear skin long-term.

Will laser make my pigmentation worse?

Only if incorrect parameters are used. At Skin Shine, we use Q-switched ND:YAG at conservative settings, pre-test patches, and always combine with prep/homecare to ensure safety on melanin-rich skin.

How long will results last?

With sustained SPF use and maintenance therapy, results can last for years. Without sun protection or on discontinuing homecare, pigmentation can return — this is true for all pigmentation treatments worldwide.

Can I use over-the-counter brightening creams alongside?

Only under guidance. Some OTC actives combine well with our therapy; others can antagonise or irritate. We'll vet your current routine in the consultation.

What if I'm pregnant or nursing?

We have pregnancy-safe pigmentation protocols using azelaic acid, gentle peels and strict photoprotection — without any prohibited actives.
